Overdue update

Gavin is almost four months old, I can't believe it. We love him so much, he probably gets his cheeks kissed a hundred times a day. He has started to grab things more, like Steve's cereal bowl and spilling it all over him. He is making more cute baby noises and yelling at his toys. He still hasn't truly laughed yet, just little chuckles, but I keep trying to get a giggle or two. He still spits up more than I thought possible! The best spit up was in Steve's hair while he was on his shoulders. He recently learned to roll over too, from tummy to back. He is so cuddly and happy. He hardly ever cries except when trying to going sleep or someone sneezes or sniffs too loud :-) we are working on moving him to the crib from the bassinet, it's been tough and Steve is definitely better at it then me. I would just put him bed with me every night, which is a no no but I love having him close.  Gavin's nick name is still Mr chubby pants. He weighs about fifteen pounds now.

That's the update on Gavin. Steve and I haven't changed much. Steve is in his second semester of law school and still busy but enjoying it. He got his grades and was in the top 40% of his class. Very proud of him especially with Gavin coming in the middle of his semester. I am lucky enough to get to stay home all day with my baby. I was planning on going back to work, but my in laws are awesome and offered to help us out so I could be at home. I worked for about a week and that was enough for me. Life is good! Next week me and Gavin are taking a trip to Florida to visit my sister and her new baby. I am super excited, but we'll miss Steve. I'll have to do a second post work pictures later.

Gavin Todd Jones

Our cute little baby made it here October 9th! He was born at 8:39 am in the Timp Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces, Daddy had the closest guess of 8 pounds. He was 19.5 inches, although he seemed longer than that to us. He is the cutest and so sweet.

Here is a little of the labor story. We had actually known he was going to be coming since my doctor appointment on Monday. Some people might think this is bad of us, but we scheduled with the hospital to be induced. Steve had the whole week off from school and after thinking it through and talking with the doctor, he said it would be a good idea as long as I was progressing enough. The weeks before I was only a 1 so we didn't think I would be far enough along. At the doctor appointment Monday I was measuring a 3! So they called the hospital and we just had to wait for them to call us and say they had an opening for us to come in. After the appointment we had our official last date at Panda Express before I went back to work. It was so weird thinking the rest of the day that he could be here so soon!

After work we did laundry, shopping and cleaning to be ready at any moment. I had been having pretty strong contractions that day since they stripped the membranes at the doctor office. Around 7 they got closer together and a lot stronger, but they weren't close enough to go in yet. The hospital finally called and said we could come in at six in the morning! We just had to call first and make sure they still had room for us to come in. It seemed so long away lol. The contractions kept coming though not regular yet. Around 11 I started to bleed pretty heavily so called the hospital and they said to come in and get checked out. I was getting really nervous, even though I knew it would be happening sometime soon anyway. I waited impatiently while Steve ate his cereal haha, he said he didn't know when he would get the chance to eat again (he was right).

We got to the hospital and when they checked me I was still sadly a 3. I was sure they were going to send us home, but they said they would wait an hour and see what happened. The time went by so fast once we were there. When they checked again I was a 4 and said they would just keep me since I would mostly likely be coming back in the morning anyway. They called for the epidural guy and I was very glad, contractions were getting very strong at this point. He numbed me up and then we had to sit there for about half an hour! The lab hadn't done my blood work yet so they couldn't start it yet until looking at my platelet levels. Steve asked several questions while we waited, he was very interested in how it all worked. They finally were able to get it started and it didn't hurt at all since I had been numbed so long ago. The IV was definitely worse when they started the penicillin for the Step B. It was crazy how fast it started to work, except I could still feel my left side a little. After laying on that side it got better though. They started pitocin after that and Steve slept on the couch :)

An hour or so later my water broke and I got really nervous after that. For some reason my biggest fear was that I would be too wimpy to push him out. Probably didn't help that there was a lady doing a natural birth next door and she was screaming bloody murder! I have never heard someone scream that loud before, the nurse reassured me that she was not the norm and to not be worried. She even asked if I wanted ear plugs she was that loud. We actually got lucky they kept me because five more girls came in after and they were super busy. The nurse started checking on me less and less. Finally she came in and said "Oh looks like you are ready to deliver". That woke Steve up. The nurse started to have me push while we waited for the doctor to finish a c-section. He got there pretty quickly, and after 20 minutes of pushing, Gavin was born. We had both never been happier:)

Some of 2012 Summer

We have had a great summer, it went by too fast. We moved into our new apartment in the middle of July. At first I did not like it one bit, but once we got everything organized I like it more. There is no a/c which is torture on some days and no dishwasher. I am getting used to the no dishwasher thing, but sometimes I think wow it would be really nice to not have to wash all these. Melissa and her family came and visited a couple weeks ago. It was so good to see them all, I couldn't get off work as much as I would have liked sadly. I am so bad at taking pictures, I brought mine with me every time I saw them and didn't take a single picture! Steve got us a camera as our combined birthday present and it should be here any day! I'm sure I'll be better at taking pictures with a new camera... at least for awhile :) I am so sad that Steve starts law school so soon. His first class isn't until the 20th and he already has homework. The next three years will take some getting used to for sure.

Yesterday was my 26th birthday and it was so much fun. Steve definitely spoiled me and treated me to everything I asked for :) We woke up pretty early and Steve made me pancakes! The little one on the left was for baby "Bryce" (our baby's name changes daily until we finally decide on a name.)

We also went to the to the temple, I figured we won't be able to go as much with a baby and law school. After we went to eat at Cafe Rio with our free meal! We usually share when we go there, so I said we should get something extra like the soup. Steve thought it defeated the purpose of having a free meal, but it made perfect sense to me! Then we came home and Steve painted my toe nails, it is way too uncomfortable to do it myself now and has been driving me crazy. Steve picked up on the technique pretty easy and only went out of the lines a couple times (sorry for the ugly swollen feet).

Then we went to the Provo River Trail to walk around and take some pictures in a new birthday outfit. My mom got me some new maternity clothes for my birthday and I was so excited, I am really sick of only having a few outfits to choose from lol.

Then we went shopping for Steve and not me for once. I was so glad that he bought new jeans finally. He hates spending money on clothes even when all his jeans get holes in them. It was kinda cloudy, but I really wanted to go swimming one more time this summer especially since a bought a really cute maternity swim suit. We went to the Veterans Memorial Pool in Provo (also never been there before) and had a ton of fun. It was a little chilly, but we dove for pennies and just had fun together. I have no idea how i used to go swimming for hours and hours when I was a kid, we were there for an hour and it felt like forever. It was a really fun day and one of the best birthdays I can remember.

Now it is time for school and it will be awhile before we can have a full today to ourselves, but I am so excited for the baby to be here! Only two months from today now. I am getting into the sore back stage and not liking it so much. I just want to meet him already!

Baby "Bob" :)

We found out on Monday that we are having a boy :) His size is about average for how far along I am. The first time his head was measured she said it was a little big, but she measured again and said it was smaller than she thought. I guess she measured wrong the first time or something. He does have long legs, I guess he'll take after Steve in the height department. I have been calling him Bob for now because we have not been able to come up with a name yet that we both agree on. We finally narrowed the list down to about ten names. I love being able to feel him move around and I am pretty sure he had the hiccups today, it was very cute.

Well I worked from home for two weeks and now I am back at the office :( They changed the schedule to include some Sundays, which they didn't say anything about when I got offered to move home. It was a hard decision because I wasn't going to have to work every Sunday, but I decided (after getting a lot of people's advice) that it wasn't worth it. It was nice while it lasted lol. I did miss working with people though, it was very lonely working from home.

That is pretty much all that has been going on lately. Now I am just looking forward to July for when Melissa and her family are going to be visiting and for Ali to have Lila! She is due in one week and I can't wait to meet a new niece. We are going on a short camping trip when Melissa is here and I am very glad that Steve will be able to come too.

Jones Family Update

I figured it was time for our yearly blog update and there has been quite a lot going on! First, Steve got accepted to law school :) I am so proud of him, he worked really hard and did so well on the LSAT. He got accepted to four schools, mostly in California, and was wait listed for a few more. Currently the plan is BYU (yay!!!), but he is still holding out for some of the other top schools that he got put on the wait list. One being his dream school, Georgetown, and his other top picks are Virginia and Northwestern. I have to say that I just hope we don't hear back from them lol. My dream school for him is BYU.

Steve will be finished with his Communications major in August, he is finishing up with internship with KSL this summer. He really enjoys that, he mostly writes stories and goes out to interview people. Sadly he won't ever be on air.

I am still working at Young Living in customer service, this is going to be my fifth year which is crazy! I moved over to the Live Chat/email team last October and it is soooooo much better. I love not being on the phones anymore. And starting this week, I will begin working from home! I am really excited about that. I will have to work the swing shift now, which will take some getting used to, since I have been working at 6 AM for last couple of years. I will miss the people I work with though, I work with fun people. But I am going to save so much on gas, and no more driving through the Utah County construction mess everyday makes me really happy.

In other news...
We are expecting our first baby October 14th :) This is my 18 weeks picture, I haven't been doing well so far with taking weekly progress pictures. This was right after a Sunday nap and Steve failed to inform me of my messy hair lol. We are so excited to be having a baby and October just seems too far away :)

We don't find out the sex until June 4th sadly. Steve doesn't really have a preference, but I kind of want a boy to be the oldest. My brother just had a baby boy last October and my little sister is having a girl in June, so either way our baby will have a same sex cousin to play with :) It has been fun being pregnant the same time as my little sis and getting advice and hand me down maternity clothes :)

I love being pregnant, but it hasn't been all fun so far. I have had really bad morning all-day sickness since about 5 weeks. I think I have eaten enough saltine crackers to last a lifetime! My doctor gave me a prescription to help and it was so awesome being able to eat again and keep everything down. There are some not-so-desirable side effects, so I haven't been taking it as much anymore. Hopefully I won't need to take it all soon. Other than that it hasn't been bad at all! Compared to my sis, I'm showing a little faster than she did; I am a little shorter than she is. I think it is kind of fun getting bigger lol.

We are finally moving to a new apartment in July, I am so excited! Our apartment now isn't terrible, but the management isn't the best at fixing things and we've been here for 3 years already. We are moving to Wymount, which is BYU housing. Steve wasn't too excited about that, but I think it will be fun. It will be two bedrooms and a little bigger than what we have now. It is really close to campus as well so Steve can ride his bike to class everyday.

This summer has been good so far. I went to Arches with my family a couple of weeks ago. It was super windy, but the hikes were fun. Steve's internship is every Friday and Saturday, which will make summer vacations impossible :( But we are going to plan at least one weekly trip so he can come.

Now that we are having a baby I will have to better at blogging and taking pictures :)

Lake Powell 2011

We just returned from spending a week in Lake Powell with Steve's parents and some of their friends. We also got to bring Steve's good friend Alex. We had a blast there just like last year. This year the weather was beautiful, but a little hot. One night there was a huge storm! It was really cool though and we loved watching all the lightening. I tried to get a picture, but failed :( I did get a couple good shots with videoing it. We did lots of swimming, wave running, tubing, and the boys used the wake board a ton. Steve was really glad Alex could come so that he would have someone to wake board with. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm pretty sure I would not be able to get up and I'm a baby because it looks like it hurts when you crash. Tubing is more my thing, even though Steve did flip me one time. I lost his sunglasses when I fell in so I we are even now JK, it was actually pretty fun falling in. We are so grateful that we got to go again this year.

Unfortunate week...

I had a really crazy week! On Monday I had to leave work early and go to the doctor because my stomach was hurting soo bad. My stomach has hurt on and off for the last few months, but Monday was the worst ever and figured I should get it checked out. Well the doctor didn't know what was wrong and suggest I come in for a CT scan on Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon they called to tell me that I have an ovarian cyst and that I need to see a gynecologist about it. I was just glad to find out what it was. Wednesday i was scheduled to finish my root canal with Steve's dad in Bountiful. I left right after work in Steve's car. I knew that the gas gauge was off, but it said I had a quarter tank left. There is a ton of construction by my work so didn't want to try to get to a gas station there and was going to get off the next exit to get gas.... Well I ran out before I got there!! I had to pull over and sit there for about a half hour in the burning hot sun. I thought it was something besides gas because that car has issues and the check engine is on a lot then will turn off randomly. Steve's brother in law was nice enough to come and give me gas, but I missed the dentist appointment :( and now have to go on Monday. On Thursday I got a call from the doctor again letting me know that they also found e. coli in my urine test. Hmm.. I wonder if it or the cyst was causing so mush pain?? So I went to get the prescription for it and they got it all messed up and had to wait about an hour! There is an other Kimberly Jones born in '86 that likes to use my same doctor and pick up prescriptions at he same place and same day too... so it causes problems quite a bit.

It was a very eventful week for sure. But now we are leaving for the Willden reunion in Beaver today! I'm excited and we are in charge this year. Ali came up with some Minute to Win It games that should be a lot of fun. So I think this weekend will make up for the bad beginning to a week :) I hope! I mean with Maria's salsa how can it be bad ?!
